Simplified model of a quarter-wave monopole antenna connected to a radial wire ground screen on a real ground plane.

The tower is modeled by a single vertical wire having a triangular cross section.

The base of an actual tower forms a short transmission line to the source position at the tower center. In this simplified model, we can offset the source from the center a distance equal to the half width of the tower to simulate the short transmission line effect. It is important to add this offset to get an input impedance close to that of the actual tower.
